ATTENTION: Below is our normal operating process. Due to Covid-19 the physical church
building is closed. You may still worship with us virtually by following the instructions on HOME above.
What to Expect When You Visit Our Church
Maybe you are returning to church, or coming to church for the very first time. Or, maybe you're an active church member who just moved to town and needs to find a new church home. Whatever your story may be, you probably would like to know in general what to expect on your first visit to First Baptist.
What is your Sunday and Wednesday schedule?
Sunday morning worship service is held at 11:00am and usually ends before 12:45pm, but will last a longer when we have communion. Sunday Bible study (Sunday School) starts at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall. Wednesday Bible study is at 5:30pm - also in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner is served at 5:30pm with the Bible Study beginning at 6:00pm.
What do I wear?
There will be those wearing traditional church clothes and others that are not. Our concern isn't what's on the outside, but what's on inside. We just want you to come.
Where do I park?
There are parking lots on the immediate left and right of the church are available for you to park when attending church activities during the weekends. During week days (Monday through Friday), normally the lot on the right (the west lot) is the only one available for church activities.
Your building has three front doors. Which do I use and where is the Fellowship Hall?
As a first time visitor, we recommend you enter the door on the far right (has the handicap ramp). This is our main vestibule. Once inside, turn to the left to enter the Sanctuary for worship service. For activities (such as Bible Study or Sunday School) instead turn to the right to enter the hallway and follow the hallway to the end and you will walk right into the Fellowship Hall.
The Fellowship Hall is part of a two story building called the Education Building. So if someone says that a meeting will be in the Education Building, just head for the Fellowship Hall and you will not be far off target.
Every Sunday, just before the start of the 11:00am service, there will be greeters in the vestibule to guide you or answer your questions. They will be wearing a blue shirt with "Greeter" embroidered on it. You may also ask questions of the ushers at the sanctuary entrances.
Other Information
- Communion is held on the first Sunday at the end of the worship service.
- During the offering period of the worship service, there will be two collections taken. The main collection is taken first by the ushers and is for general offering. The deacons follow the ushers with a second collection plate for the benevolence offering for which most people usually put spare change or dollar bills. The offering plates are brought to the pews ... you will not need to walk to the front of the church to deposit the offering as is done in some churches.
- The church secretary work schedule varies but you may always leave a message on the answering machine if no one answers the phone.
- DVD or CD copies of the Worship Service are available for a nominal fee. To obtain a copy, stop by the media room window at the rear of the sanctuary.
